Tune in the weekend following October 8th where I am making a promise to myself to actually finish a project at MHacks8!!
This project has been on my mind for a long time, and is first on my list of incompleted side projects to actually complete this semester.
This idea is brand new, but seems like it will be a great opportunity to dive into learning about how back end development works! Basically, I plan to get my hands on a RaspberryPi that I will use to build my own small home server where I will host a web app that live-streams the window of my fire escape to watch for squirrel visitors! Ideally I will find some sort of open source facial recognition software that I could manipulate to be squirrel-recorgnition software that will allow me to name each squirrel and keep track of the number of unique squirrel visitors. As a bonus I'd like to make a social media pages for my squirrel cam that will allow users to feed squirrels and trigger a squirrel party (complete with mini party lights) via a unique hashtag.
This idea is completely ridiculous but I'm extremey motivated to find some way to make this work.
